    A Conversation with MARY-LUE Mark-Xtreme

Mary-Lue is a rising African Pop artist with a dynamic crossover sound that blends melodic Afrobeat and American pop, delivered with a fast-paced, rhythmic flow. Born a refugee in Ghana, music was her first love and an escape from reality. From a young age, she entertained on the streets, singing and dancing for tips, a passion that has evolved into a thriving career. Mary-Lue’s journey has led her to major stages worldwide, including Bristol Afrofest (UK) and opening performances for Davido, Fireboy, and Bisa Kdei etc. She has also performed at top festivals such as Ghana Fest, Bantu Fest, and Reggae Fest and more. Her work has been recognized with multiple nominations, including two 312 Music Award nominations and an IllyAward nomination. She was featured twice on CanTV Chicago’s Elma and Company and won the Independent Artist Spotlight on Afrozons Radio. What sets Mary-Lue apart is her authentic fusion of African roots and American influences, embodying the essence of an African pop star diva. Growing up in a toxic and financially struggling household without a father, music became her therapy and purpose. Despite early challenges, including missed opportunities like Kidz Bop and Acting auditions due to lack of parental support, she remained committed to her craft. With a background in music studies, screenwriting, and theater choreography, Mary-Lue is not only a musician but a multifaceted creative force ready to make her mark on the global stage.
